The leg-shot incident

The Nebula Raven driftar långsamt fram genom hyperspace på autopilot. De rundade korridorerna är upplysta av många olika ljuskällor på skeppet, vissa improviserade där taklamporna gett upp. Ett tyst hummande kommer från de bakre regionerna, närmare motorerna, men förövrigt är skeppet väldigt tyst och lugnt.

"AAGH! FRAZZ! Come on, Rusty, I ain't no droid! You need to be careful!"
Jet sitter djupt bakåtlutad i en stol i skeppets Med Bay. Hans vänstra ben är uppe i en ställning och Z5-H1 står med verktyg där han försöker läka blaster-såret.
- "I am sorry sir, I am not programmed initially for the use of medical services. This current programming comes from the al-"
- "Just shut up and do your job."

Ayaj är där och stöttar som moraliskt stöd.

"How about you shut up and stop with the whining? That'd be nice."

Stöd kan tolkas något löst.

"Oh I'm sorry, Princess. Did you get shot? I think that- Argh! Damnit Rusty, focus on what you're doing! Don't listen to me, I'm talking to Tails!"
"But sir, you are movi-"
"I think that Chiss had a modified blaster. Been shot before but this thing stings."

"Well, maybe you're getting old? Maybe it's time to land on some nice planet and become a farmer?"

"Haha, now wouldn't that be something? Jet Vega, herding nerfs on some backwater moon. No, I ain't gonna settle down. And I ain't old, Princess."

"It wouldn't be that strange. I mean, you kind of have that scruffy looking nerf-herder thing going."

Ayaj ger Jet en menande blick. "You haven't shaved for a week, god knows when you last took a bath and that stupid coat still has a blast-mark on it since last time you got shot. Do you want me to go on?"

"Come one now, Tails, this is a nice coat. And besides, why are you complaining? You like 'em bad."
Jet Harklar sig lite, tittar bort och försöker se ut som han inte bryr sig.
"Like Vanec, for example."

Ayaj appears somewhat flustered, and speaks faster than a Hutt makes credits. "Haha, what? How is he bad? He's a stuffy business-man. And what is that even supposed to mean? I don't like bad, bad is... Bad? It's what it means. Bad. Not good."

Jet ler lite ofrivilligt med ena mungipan. "You're turning purple, Tails."

"I'm always purple!"

"Is that so? I've always remembered you as being of a more cerulean persuasion."
Jet skrockar lite.
"Speaking of Vanec, what were you and him talking about? I picked up 'loser' among other words."

"Oh... Right." Hon hinner samla sig lite medan Jet skrockar, "Yeah, we were talking about you."

"I don't trust Vanec, Tails. Him and I have a bit of history, even before you and I met. Sure, he saved our asses today but only because if we were caught it would lead back to him. I bet that Bossk had some history with him too."

"Then tell me. And then I might let you in on all the juicy details of what we were discussing behind your back."

"You had juicy discussions about me?" frågar Jet, disapprovingly.

"No, we had juuuiiicy discussions behind your back, you weren't part of the plan."

"What were you talking about?" frågar han, hans nyfikenhet slarvigt dolt bakom en kränkt fasad.

"Did you miss the part were you first tell me your totally real not made up story about Vanec being mean to you when you were like 15?"

Ayaj verkar fruktansvärt road.

"I was eighteen and no, he wasn't mean to me. But we have some history and I know his... type."
En lampa tänds någonstans djupt inne i Jets skalle.
"Why would I make this up?"

"Alright, fine. Since you don't seem to want to tell me, I guess I won't tell you our plans."

"Look, it's a long story Tails. I'd rather not bring that up right nooOAAOOW! Rusty!"
"This will soon be over, master."

Ayaj börjar skratta okontrollerat.

"Laugh it up, Princess. I'd like to see you act as cool if you were shot."
